Today I would like to write down the view of myself, a new breeder. We, this is Nadine & Carsten and our Lagottos East & Maple as well as our German Great Dane Aislinn. Have come to the Lagotto 4 years ago and now since 2020 freshly baked breeders, who are just looking forward to the first throw...
 When it was clear to us that our Maple should expect its first litter in spring 2021, we have sat down on the homepage. A lot of time and joy invested in the website, which really lives every week from change. Because this is how we can share an impression of ourselves, our dogs and our lives with us. In addition, we are very active on Instagram and Facebook, because it is important for us that puppy interested parties know how the dogs live with us. That they are family members and we take care of your well-being.
 The website was just online, which came the first inquiries regarding. Puppy interested parties and I have to say that all the families we were allowed to welcome from summer to autumn were great and at that time we could not tell when it is time and if and how it develops at all, but you noticed immediately, the families have dealt with the topic of Lagotto Romagnolo, as well as with us as breeders.
 Of course, in the meantime there was one or the other, who had applied to several breeders and then also got the contract for a puppy with another breeder, but that was also completely understandable, because who deals with the topic, knows that you have to wait good and 1-2 years for a puppy.
 The cover act of our Maple was a New Year's Eve gift and we were happy to tell our puppy interested parties, who had been in contact with us for more than 4 months now and regularly asked how we and the dogs were doing, joyfully report that 2 deck acts had worked and it is now called fingers and hope that the ultrasound will be positive for us. The joy of our interested parties was huge and everyone was excited. We keep in touch via mail and Whats app and it is always a pleasure to see that everyone is there with passion.

If the first deck act is seen, you send a cover message to the club and this puts on the club page our contact details under the tab “Breeder of the puppies expected”....
Yeah, and what can I say.. We didn't know how we felt anymore. There were inquiries about inquiries, by mail, by phone and even impersonally via sms. Friendly and detailed inquiries but also inquiries, without salutation, without a personal word, copy and space or just .. WANT TO BUY PUPPY... We breeders also exchange ideas with each other and everyone reported the same thing.
 WHAT's going on here, I thought.. Does people really don't care where the puppies grow up, how they grow up and who the breeder is? What is the environment?
There were callers who said, but now they have time and want to wait a puppy and not 1 year...
 I was shocked and still am. Especially now about Corona, the flood of inquiries is simply enormous and even if it is nice that so many people are interested in the breed and want to give you a home, I have noticed how little is really known about the breed, how little has been dealt with the topic of Lagotto. Yes he has a practical size, he weighs just 12-16kg and also looks cute, but you should not underestimate this breed.. It is a working dog and this one brings a lot of potential. (My personal breed description from 2018 can be read in here – on my homepage) Many can work in the home office right now, or have more free time, but please Corona is over.. will there be the time for a dog?
 Also on the many Facebook pages you can read daily requests for a puppy. Inquiries if someone can recommend breeders. Inquiries if you know someone who has to hand over puppies.
Facebook – is not a puppy exchange and not serious .. Any reputable breeder will not offer their puppies via eBay Insta or Facebook.

Only yesterday there was a message in a group that a puppy fell ill badly and died from it. The lady had made a request in a group on 16.12. that she was looking for a puppy, a few days later already looking for a name, on 31.12. received the puppy and on 7.12. the puppy was dead.. Unfortunately, this lady did not report where the puppy came from. Therefore, it can only be assumed here, but that this comes from a recognized breeder from the VDH is rather unlikely. Because no breeder who is known to us, has at the end of the puppy time still puppies free and does not know where to go with it.. To put it this way..
 Unfortunately, this puppy has died and you can no longer protect other people from the supposed breeder (multiplier or whatever), because the complete post was deleted. However, I know that on the same day, this person wrote to a befriended breeder whether he still has a puppy for you. 
I have often asked myself the question, with some requests: Do the people not know how much passion a breeder puts into his dogs, how much time you spend with allowing the dog to breed and then also how much time you invest to choose the right male. The time in advance at the veterinarian to determine the correct deck time and then drive the effort by 2 times to males, no matter where he may live. Abroad or to the other corner of Germany..
I personally – because I can only speak of myself/us – would like to choose interested parties to the best of my knowledge and belief, who also have the interest and passion to engage with the characteristics of the dog. Who want to keep a bond with the breeder, because please do not get me wrong here. We want the best for our dogs and we put so much heart and soul into the dogs and into the rearing that we would like to have contact with the small minis afterwards. We want to share how they grow up, want to be on hand with advice and deeds, even if there are problems.
